Eligibility: All rowers must be Full or Weekend Members of GMS Rowing Center.

Master Performance Training: Please refer to the separate side bar for information on this program.

Structure: Programs will be organized to meet the requirements of members who would like coached sessions. Details of additional sessions will be notified to interested members and will appear on the Web site.

Content:These programs will cater to adult rowers with some previous experience. Coaching will be available for both sweep rowers and Scullers. Participants can sign up for programs that will cover 4-week segments. These will consist of 8 or 12 sessions. Coaching will help athletes build their endurance and prepare them for races they may wish to attend. Single Scullers wishing to have private instruction may make their own arrangements for one-on-one coaching directly with our coaching staff.

Daily Schedule: (Dependant on numbers)

  • These are organized based on the requirements of the group and availability of coaches and equipment. As a guide sessions will start at 7.00am ending at 8:30am and at 6:00pm to 7:30pm
  • Other timings can be arranged subject to a minimum of four or more rowers signing up for a monthly program. Those only rowing twice a week can choose which days they prefer.

  • Spring and summer: Participants in our Masters program will be encouraged to race. A list of scheduled regattas may be obtained by visiting US Rowling’s website as well as the Row 2K internet site. Participants may wish to prepare for competition at US Masters Nationals (for 2012 this will be held at Worcester, MA).
  • Head racing in the fall: Races we typically attend include “The Riverfront Recapture” race in Hartford, CT; the “Head of the Housatonic” in Shelton CT.; GMS Regatta; the Green Mountain Head in Putney, VT; the Head of the Charles in Boston and the Head of the Fish, Saratoga, NY.

Costs: Per four week courses are $300 for three times a week or $200 for twice a week. This is dependent on a minimum number of rowers signing up.
